What to look for in maternity pajamas
Sleepwear is bought for comfort, so fabric comes first. Cotton and cotton-modal jersey breathe well and wash easily; viscose and bamboo feel cooler against the skin; brushed and fleece fabrics are warmer for winter. Body temperature often changes during pregnancy, which makes a breathable fabric more useful than a heavy one.
Fit choices are mostly about the waistband and the front. Pajama pants with a soft over-bump or roll-down waist stay comfortable in bed and adjust as the bump grows. Nightgowns and sleep shirts skip the waistband entirely, which many people prefer late in pregnancy and around the birth. Robes are a separate layer rather than a substitute for either.
